ITER, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Campus Experience

Hey Everyone!!!! Currently, I’m pursuing my engineering degree from a well-known Tier-2 college in Bhubaneswar which is INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION AND RESEARCH which Comes under SIKSHA ‘O’ ANUSANDHAN deemed to be a University. I’m in my 2nd year. It is quite famous around the south-eastern part of India. This institute provides a wide range of undergraduate(UG), and postgraduate(PG) courses in the field of research and development. ITER is a private institutional body that provides wide courses in the field of engineering but ‘Computer Science’ is most common among the students.

About The Campus:-

The university is spread an area of 200 acres (0.81 km2) in the temple city of Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The campus has the best Library, best labs, and other necessary things. Some of the primary departments of ITER are:- Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Applications. And they also do have Supporting departments which include chemistry, physics, cybersecurity, AI & ML, data science, internet of things, mathematics and humanities.

First-Year Experience:-

To go to a private college was like entering a new world. It was quite a roller coaster ride for me because after a long break after our bords, we delved into a different society which is a college, yet I didn’t hustle more in making friends because I was an extroverted person since childhood and I have a good communication skill. In the first year, we got to know about basic knowledge of Java language and data structures with subjects like discrete mathematics, graph theory, etc. From day 1 having a good connection with your faculties will be more beneficial for you in the exam times, not only during the exams afterward too. It was fun in my first year.

Second-Year Experience:-

Entering my second year at the private college, things started to get real. Courses like Computer Organization and Architecture, data structures and algorithms, security networking, Digital logics etc. It all sounded intimidating at first, but after entering into them revealed a whole new world of knowledge. Here, the subjects started getting difficult, whereas it was difficult for those who wasn’t that much active in the classes, but as I said I like to communicate with teachers for good relation I never miss any class of any subject until its and emergency. I made projects with my friends always kept myself engaged in studies, projects and fun with friends. Never miss fun in your college life, I know studies are important but if you won’t make memories then you can’t explore the unrealistic world with your peers.

So, As I said I’m in 2nd year of college after 2-3 months I’ll get into the most crucial year of an engineering degree which is 3rd yr where we have to manage our time for both academics and placements.

About Clubs:-

We have various kinds of clubs in our college which is the best way to build network with people with different mind sets. Here are club name:- SOA Flying Community, CNXITER, GDSC ITER, SOA Music Club, Toneelstuk (drama club), AIC SOA and a lot more.

Environment:-

Our college’s environment is too good and also do have dark side too. Its totally on us like in what kind of environment we want to stay. In college we face real life situations where we have to handle it all alone without the support of our parents, its the place where we can learn that how we can face PEOPLE in our future. Staying in a good environment will lead to a positive and a healthy growth, whereas in bad environment we might go to negative sides like drinking, smoking, etc. Always choose the right path for yourselves and let know yourself that why did you joined this college and why are you spending lakhs of money in a college. It is very disappointing that our college never hosts any kind of fests for students. I hope they resolve this issue of student satisfaction in future.

Placement:-

Placement and internship opportunities start from the end of the sixth semester. Big names like Amazon, Microsoft, Cisco, TCS, Infosys, Deloitte, and many others visit our campus to recruit students. With over 1500 students in just the CSE and CSIT departments, compete for placements which get pretty intense. The average CTC in our college hovers around 6 to 7 lakhs, with the highest package reaching a whopping 32 lakhs.
