IIIT Nagpur Campus Experience

During my first year at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur (IIIT Nagpur), I had a great academic experience. As I get ready to start my second year in a couple of months, I want to look back at the many enriching experiences I had during my first year of study.

One of the best parts of my first year at IIIT Nagpur was participating in three amazing fests. Each fest—Tantrafista for technology, Abhivyakti for culture, and E-Summit for entrepreneurship—gave me different experiences and lasting memories. There was also a small but lively fest organized by the first-year students called Natyaksh, which added to the lively campus atmosphere.

I made sure to take advantage of every opportunity available to me at college, whether it was joining events, and clubs, or taking on new challenges. I fully immersed myself in the diverse experiences on offer.

When the college’s permanent campus was established in 2019, I found the academic building to be modern well-equipped and powered with solar energy. It had everything from high-tech laboratories and projectors in every classroom to a reading room, a library and a common hall. Additionally, having a night canteen in the hostel, open until 4 am, was convenient for us students.

Although the campus only has four main buildings—academic, administrative, residential, and hostel blocks—there’s a lot to explore, especially when with friends. The areas near the amphitheatre and fountain were great for conversing and making lasting memories. Also, the ongoing development of a sports ground looks promising for more recreational opportunities, and I’m looking forward to its completion by the start of my second year.

The coding culture at our college is vibrant. Coding clubs like DotSlash Community help and encourage us to do competitive coding and develop our skills to be well-rounded for the corporate world. Additionally, we have the Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) in our college, which promotes awareness of different technologies and encourages us to participate in various hackathons and competitions. Furthermore, our Entrepreneur Cell, Udyam, is one of the best entrepreneurial cells all over India.

Looking back, I’m thankful for the experiences and friendships I made during my first year at IIIT Nagpur. I’m excited to see what the upcoming year has in store.
