How to use Table Component in ReactJS ?
Tables display sets of data. They can be fully customized. Material UI for React has this component available for us, and it is very easy to integrate. We can use the Table Component in React JS using the following approach.
Prerequisites:
Approach:
- Data Formatting:
- Use a `formatOurData` function to structure data for each row with specified column names, Semester-I marks, and Semester-II marks.
- Data Representation:
- Create a React component (`App`) that utilizes Material-UI’s Table components to display formatted data, including Subject Name, Sem-I Marks, and Sem-II Marks.
- Styling and Presentation:
- Apply styling to the table, use a `TableContainer` component for improved styling, and populate the table with sample data using Material-UI’s `TableHead` and `TableBody` components for organized presentation.
Steps to Create the React Application And Installing Module:
Step 1: Create a React application using the following command.
npx create-react-app foldername
Step 2: After creating your project folder i.e. foldername, move to it using the following command.
cd foldername
Step 3: After creating the ReactJS application, Install the material-ui modules using the following command.
npm install @material-ui/core
Project Structure:
The updated dependenices in package.json file will look like:
"dependencies": {
"@material-ui/core": "^4.12.4",
"react": "^18.2.0",
"react-dom": "^18.2.0",
"react-scripts": "5.0.1",
"web-vitals": "^2.1.4",
}
Example: Now write down the following code in the App.js file
Javascript
import React from "react" ; import TableContainer from "@material-ui/core/TableContainer" ; import Table from "@material-ui/core/Table" ; import TableBody from "@material-ui/core/TableBody" ; import TableRow from "@material-ui/core/TableRow" ; import Paper from "@material-ui/core/Paper" ; import TableHead from "@material-ui/core/TableHead" ; import TableCell from "@material-ui/core/TableCell" ; function formatOurData(columnName, semOneMarks, semTwoMarks) { return { columnName, semOneMarks, semTwoMarks }; } const SampleData = [ formatOurData( "Maths" , 55, 66), formatOurData( "English" , 44, 94), formatOurData( "Hindi" , 67, 85), formatOurData( "Computer" , 68, 95), formatOurData( "Science" , 56, 85), ]; export default function App() { return ( <div style={{ display: "block" , padding: 30 }}> <h4>How to use Table Component in ReactJS?</h4> <TableContainer component={Paper}> <Table style={{ width: 600, }} size= "small" > <TableHead> <TableRow> <TableCell>Subject Name</TableCell> <TableCell align= "right" > Sem-I Marks </TableCell> <TableCell align= "right" > Sem-II Marks </TableCell> </TableRow> </TableHead> <TableBody> {SampleData.map((row) => ( <TableRow key={row.columnName}> <TableCell component= "th" scope= "row" > {row.columnName} </TableCell> <TableCell align= "right" > {row.semOneMarks} </TableCell> <TableCell align= "right" > {row.semTwoMarks} </TableCell> </TableRow> ))} </TableBody> </Table> </TableContainer> </div> ); } |
Step to Run Application: Run the application using the following command from the root directory of the project.
npm start
Output: Now open your browser and go to http://localhost:3000
