Reflecting on my journey as a B.Tech Computer Science student at Hindustan College of Science and Technology (HCST) from 2020 to 2024 fills me with a mix of nostalgia, pride, and a few frustrations. These four years have been a blend of rigorous academics, vibrant campus life, unforgettable memories, and some challenging moments.

Overall experience :

Normal not so good but i have good memories and friends here, Some teachers are very toxic and rude , Some are not well in teaching some are good in teaching but have poor mindset and attitude. Overall this college is not for you if you have a good potential and talent , so choose it as your last choice not first choice.

First Impressions and Beginnings :

Walking into the HCST campus for the first time in 2020, I was both excited and nervous. The sprawling greenery, state-of-the-art facilities, and welcoming environment quickly eased my anxieties. The orientation program was particularly helpful, introducing us to the college culture, faculty, and our fellow batchmates. Little did I know then, these strangers would soon become my closest friends and partners in countless projects and late-night study sessions.

Academic Journey:

The academic curriculum at HCST is well-structured, providing a solid foundation in computer science principles while also allowing for specialization in areas of interest. The initial semesters were focused on core subjects like Data Structures, Algorithms, and Computer Networks. The teaching faculty, known for their expertise and dedication, played a crucial role in making complex topics understandable. Dr. Sharma’s classes on Operating Systems and Dr. Gupta’s sessions on Artificial Intelligence were particularly enlightening.

However, the journey wasn’t without its hiccups. There were instances when the curriculum felt outdated, especially in rapidly evolving fields like Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing. Some professors, despite their knowledge, struggled to engage students effectively, leading to a few uninspiring and monotonous lectures. The rigidity in the curriculum also left little room for exploring interdisciplinary interests.

Projects and Internships:

HCST emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging students to undertake projects and internships. My third-year project, a collaboration with three of my classmates, was on developing a machine learning model for predicting stock market trends. This project not only enhanced my technical skills but also taught me the importance of teamwork and project management.

Despite these positive experiences, securing internships was a challenge for many students. The placement cell, though helpful, had its limitations, and the competitive nature of the tech industry meant that not all students could secure positions that matched their aspirations. My summer internship at a renowned tech firm was a high point, but the process to get there was fraught with anxiety and setbacks.

Campus Life and Extracurricular Activities:

Beyond academics, HCST offers a vibrant campus life. I was actively involved in the Computer Science Club, where we organized coding competitions, hackathons, and guest lectures by industry experts. These events were a great way to apply our knowledge, learn from peers, and network with professionals.

However, the campus infrastructure sometimes failed to support our ambitions. Frequent technical issues in the computer labs and a lack of up-to-date software licenses were recurring problems that hindered our productivity. The administrative bureaucracy also made organizing events a cumbersome process, often dampening our enthusiasm.

The annual tech fest, Technovation, was a highlight every year. Participating in various events, from coding challenges to robotics competitions, was both fun and educational. Our team’s victory in the 2022 hackathon remains one of my proudest moments.

Personal Growth and Friendships:

Living on campus allowed me to form deep friendships and learn valuable life skills. The hostel life at HCST, with its diverse student community, was a melting pot of cultures and ideas. Late-night study sessions, weekend outings, and the camaraderie we shared made my college years memorable.

Despite the overall positive experience, hostel life had its downsides. The facilities were often inadequate, with frequent water shortages and maintenance issues. The food quality in the mess was another common complaint, leading many of us to seek alternative options.

The faculty at HCST were more than just teachers; they were mentors who guided us through academic challenges and personal dilemmas. Their support and encouragement were crucial in shaping my career path and personal growth.

Graduation and Beyond:

As I approach graduation, I look back at my time at HCST with gratitude, despite the challenges and frustrations. The college has equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to step into the professional world. The journey from a wide-eyed freshman to a confident graduate has been transformative, thanks to the enriching environment at HCST.

The friendships I’ve made, the lessons I’ve learned, and the experiences I’ve had will stay with me forever. As I embark on the next chapter of my life, I carry forward the legacy of HCST, ready to make a mark in the field of computer science, while also advocating for the improvements needed to make the college experience even better for future students.
