GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management Campus Experience 9

GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management, located in Greater Noida, stands out among the city’s private colleges for its stringent focus on academics. Despite its relatively compact size, the campus is expanding, promising more space and facilities shortly. The well-maintained and clean campus features three canteens, a cafeteria, a mess for hostelers, and ample space for sports like basketball, volleyball, and badminton. As a final-year student, I think I’m very much eligible to explain the current scenario of this college.

First Year: The Tough Initiation

The first year at GL Bajaj is notably challenging. With few holidays and no Saturdays off, the academic pressure is intense. Freshmen are not allowed to participate in events, hackathons, or join any clubs, which can be frustrating. However, this rigorous start lays a strong foundation, preparing students for the demanding academic environment that defines GL Bajaj. Despite these challenges, the promise of excellent placements keeps us motivated. GL Bajaj boasts the best placement opportunities in Greater Noida, unmatched by any other college in the city despite the recession period.

Second Year: A Breath of Fresh Air

The second year brings some relief with Saturdays off and a slightly more relaxed schedule. This is when we started participating in hackathons organized by the college. These events are not only fun but also incredibly enriching, offering hands-on experience and a chance to apply theoretical knowledge. This year, the college environment feels more engaging and interactive, with opportunities to join clubs and participate in various activities.

Third Year: Deep Dive into Core Subjects

The third year is similar to the second in terms of routine, but the academic focus intensifies. Attendance remains crucial, with a 75% minimum requirement. This year, technical training classes for placements begin, which are invaluable. These sessions help us prepare for the rigorous placement process. The core subjects we study this year are critical, demanding our full attention and effort. Mastering these subjects is essential, and the college provides all the necessary support to ensure we do well.

Fourth Year: The Final Sprint

The final year is all about placements and internships. The placement season starts at the end of the third year and continues into the fourth year. With various companies visiting the campus, we are required to meet specific CGPA cutoffs to be eligible for their selection process. This period is both exciting and nerve-wracking. The college’s strong placement record is a testament to its rigorous academic standards and comprehensive training programs.

Notable Events and Personalities

GL Bajaj frequently hosts notable personalities, enhancing the overall college experience. I’ve had the privilege of attending sessions by Alakh Pandey (Physics Wallah), Sandeep Jain (GfG), K Sivan (ISRO), and even Bill Gates (Microsoft). Celebrities like Jubin Nautiyal, Vishal and Shekhar, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Vicky Kaushal have also graced our campus during various events, adding glamour and excitement to our otherwise academically focused lives.

What I Like About GL Bajaj

One of the aspects I appreciate most about GL Bajaj is the college dress code. It promotes a sense of equality among students and eliminates the daily hassle of choosing what to wear. The IEEE conferences are a highlight for those interested in research, offering exposure to cutting-edge developments and networking opportunities. The dedicated placement preparation in the third year is another major advantage, equipping us with the skills and knowledge needed to secure good job offers. Additionally, the fests and hackathons organized by various clubs or the college itself provide a balanced mix of academics and extracurricular activities. You can also access your attendance records online which makes it easy to keep track of them. I wouldn’t say the placements haven’t decreased during the recession but GL Bajaj is still providing better opportunities than other colleges in companies like JusPay, Palo Alto, Commvault, Swiggy, Cadence, JPMC and many more.

Areas for Improvement

However, there are a few downsides. The tuition fees are higher compared to other colleges under AKTU, which can be a burden for some families. The large number of students increases competition, making it harder to stand out. The strict attendance policy can be stressful, as falling below 75% attendance means being barred from examinations. Despite these challenges, certain teachers, particularly from my third semester in Data Structures and Mathematics, have left a lasting positive impact, making the academic journey worthwhile.

In conclusion, my time at GL Bajaj Institute of Technology has been a blend of rigorous academics, valuable experiences, and memorable events. The journey from a challenging first year to a placement-focused final year has been transformative, equipping me with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the professional world.
