Flipkart Interview Experience for SDE

In this article, I will share my interview experience with Flipkart, from applying to securing the role of Software Development Engineer-I (SDE-I).

I applied for the SDE-I position across various teams at Flipkart through LinkedIn Jobs. In February 2022, I received a message from a Flipkart SDM on LinkedIn expressing interest in my profile and requesting my resume.

After reviewing my resume, I was directed to apply for the job through Flipkart’s portal. Within 3-4 days, I received an email containing a link to the Online Assessment, which I had to complete within 7 days.

Round 1: Online Coding Assessment:

The online coding assessment comprised two coding questions, each accompanied by space for explaining the logic and approach. One question was stack-based (medium level), while the other involved Dynamic Programming (medium-hard level). I successfully passed all test cases for both questions and provided explanations of my thought process and approach.

Round 2: Technical Interview (Round 1):

The interview commenced with introductions and discussions about my projects and work experience. We then delved into coding questions. While I cannot disclose specific questions due to a non-disclosure agreement, I can provide a brief overview. One question revolved around stack applications in strings, while another involved a real-world problem related to shipping products efficiently using a generic tree structure. I provided solutions and engaged in discussions about their implementations.

Round 3: Technical Interview (Round 2):

This interview also began with introductions, followed by coding questions. One question focused on low-level design, akin to designing backend APIs for generating real-world data. The other question related to implementing an autocomplete feature for text-based applications. Throughout the interview, constant communication with the interviewer was crucial, as we discussed various approaches and design principles.

Round 4: Bar Raiser Interview:

The final interview involved discussions about my work experience and projects, including complex decision-making instances. We also explored technical aspects of my projects, followed by a coding question centered on binary tree traversal. After answering questions and sharing thoughts, the interview concluded.

Offer Confirmation:

Approximately a week later, I received an email from Flipkart confirming my selection as an SDE-I. I was thrilled and grateful for the opportunity.
