Course Description

The B.Tech in Information Technology at Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT) is designed to provide a solid foundation in various IT domains such as software development, network management, cybersecurity, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. The program integrates theoretical learning with practical applications, including labs, industry projects, and internships, to prepare students for the dynamic IT industry.

Criteria and Process of Admission

Eligibility:

1. Completion of 12th standard (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as main subjects.

2. A minimum cutoff score in PCM as required by the institute.

Application Process:

1. Admission to BIT is through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling process.

2. Students must apply through the TNEA portal by submitting their 12th standard mark sheets and other required documents.

Cutoff Scores:

1. For the Information Technology department, a cutoff score of 184.5/200 is usually required.

2. To secure a comfortable seat in the IT department, a cutoff above 186 is recommended.

3. Scores above 180 can offer a chance of admission into other departments, depending on community and caste reservations.

Counseling and Seat Allocation:

1. Seats are allocated based on the TNEA counseling process.

2. Once a seat is allotted in TNEA counseling, the student must submit the required document proofs and confirm their seat before the deadline.

3. If a student fails to confirm their seat before the deadline, it will be moved to other eligible students in the upcoming rounds.

Becoming a BITian:

Once the application process is complete and the seat is confirmed, the student officially becomes a BITian and can commence their studies at Bannari Amman Institute of Technology.
