Experience

At the campus Placement from PEC College, after clearing the initial round, I got the chance to sit in the interview round of 3dot14 company for a data analyst role.

My interviewer was quite friendly, and before starting the interview, he asked me some questions to make me comfortable (like “How are you?” and “How is your day going so far?”). Then he said, “Let’s start the interview.”

So, he asked me to give my introduction. I gave my introduction as I practised earlier, but I made a mistake. I wrote in my resume that I am interested in chess and Table Tennis. However, in front of the interviewer, I said I was interested in chess and Volleyball. I don’t know if he missed it or caught it, but the next question was on Volleyball.

He asked me, “What position do you play?” I said, “Libero.”

“Who is the best player?” he asked. I answered, “Ajith” (an Indian player who is a Spiker).
His next question was, “Ajith plays as a Spiker, and you as a Libero? Why didn’t you choose to be a spiker?” I got a little fumbled here because this question came quite unexpectedly for me. I replied that I like how calm and hardworking Ajith is. That’s why I admire him.

Then he asked me a puzzle, which was very common, and I knew the answer the moment he asked. However, I took some time to answer, making it seem like I was trying it for the first time. I gave him the answer with a great explanation. The puzzle was – here’s the link.

Then he asked me, “Okay, so you also like chess. What is your favourite opening?” I replied, “Queen’s Gambit.”

Then he asked, “How will you encounter a situation where you come across a position you have never seen on the chessboard?” I replied, “I will apply SWOT analysis to every good move possible and look for the best move I find there.”

Then the whole interview shifted to the SWOT analysis topic, and he gave me a business logic problem where I needed to apply SWOT. It was quite an easy problem. And then he said, “Let’s end the interview. We will declare the results for the candidates qualifying for the second round.”

Round 2

After 45 mins. My round 2 started which was HR Round. She asked me to sit down and some questions like a normal conversation. She asked me about my Strengths and Weaknesses. I answered it as I practised, about where I see myself after 5 years.

It is really easy to clear the HR round. If you are confident and clear. Overall the second round was 15 minutes.
